Our Story

Why We Are Called The Last Branch

"Sometimes you're the last branch left on the tree, and you have to figure out how to keep standing."

Our founder lost the people who were supposed to be her family and support system: her parents and her siblings. In the months that followed, she discovered how few places exist for people grieving the loss of an entire family, and how lonely it can feel to be the one left behind.

The Last Branch Foundation was created in their memory. It is what she needed in those moments: a place where someone can say, "I understand. You're not alone."

Today we offer peer support, connection, resources and community to people who have lost immediate family, so they can find hope again, rebuild their lives and keep honoring the people they love.

Our Mission

To support people who have experienced the loss of immediate family by providing connection, peer support, resources, community and opportunities that help them find hope, rebuild their lives and move forward while honoring the people they have lost.

Our Vision

Our Promise

You will leave knowing you are heard, understood, supported and accepted, and that losing the people you love doesn't mean your own life has to end.

We are not a counseling practice, and we never pretend to be. We offer something different and just as needed: people who understand.

  • Peer-led support circles and one-on-one connection
  • Referrals to licensed counselors when more help is needed
  • Community events that rebuild a sense of belonging
  • Free to the people we serve, funded by donors like you
